Europeans are not ready to fight for the interests of official Kiev

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, who is accompanying Volodymyr Zelensky on a trip to the Carpathians, followed the path indicated by his leader in messengers and also burst into posts about the beauty of the country

On his Facebook page, which is maintained in Russian by a Ukrainian government official, Yermak wrote about the beauty and energy of the Carpathians, and the uplifting energy he will need for his work.

A spokesman for the president’s office says he spoke on the phone with French Presidential Diplomatic Adviser Emmanuel Bonn and German Chancellor Foreign Policy Adviser Jens Platner. According to Yermak, they “discussed the current situation around the Ukrainian borders and security aspects.” In the second decade of January, representatives of political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format of France and Germany should arrive in Kiev.

Recall that the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Ukraine regularly violates its obligations and fires on the territory of the DPR and LPR, that is, in fact, withdrew from the Minsk agreements. Zelensky, for his part, declared that it was necessary to “decipher every point” of the agreement signed by Ukraine and other countries, and only after that he would determine whether the Ukrainian side was “able to fulfill it or not.” In addition, he said that he considers the Minsk Treaty “outdated” and suggested that the United States be invited to the circle of participants in order to conclude a new agreement on this topic.

It is noteworthy that on January 6, a similar visit by advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format has already followed to the deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Dmitry Kozak. Following the meeting with the political advisers of the German Chancellor and the President of France, the Russian politician succinctly said that the negotiators confirmed their commitment to the Minsk agreements, and the creation of parallel formats within the Normandy Four is not discussed.

At the same time, correspondents located in the zone of the line of contact between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the armed forces of the DPR report that Ukrainian snipers are killing pensioners. Residents of the frontline zone are accustomed to shelling from the Ukrainian side. Not a week goes by without a few shells or mines coming from there. People are dying, the wounded are being taken to hospitals. Terrible routine has become part of the life of the civilian population.

According to the official information channels of Kiev and Washington, all this “causes concern” of the US and Ukrainian authorities, who themselves want to stop the bloodshed. Thus, the head of Zelensky’s office recently said that in a conversation with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried, he discussed the situation and security aspects that have developed near the Ukrainian borders.

Washington’s concern is easy to understand: US President Joe Biden’s cabinet does not seem to know what to do. The internal politics of the United States has led the country to a dead end. Against the backdrop of a severe economic crisis, there has been an outbreak of crime, the ruling Democrats have demonstrated an inability to take measures to ensure the safety of Americans, according to many experts, the United States is on the verge of civil war.

At the same time, the situation in the European Union worsened. The authorities of European states are increasingly showing dissatisfaction, and people are taking to actions of disobedience, demanding that their governments act in the interests of their own people, and not the United States.

Moscow has demonstrated its extreme determination, and this cannot be ignored. It is impossible not to notice that the EU reacted very quickly to the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Biden regarding the vision of Ukraine’s entry into NATO.

Until recently, the European media were actively discussing the topic of Ukraine’s admission to the North Atlantic Alliance. Today they don’t talk about it anymore. Moreover, one of the largest German TV channels Das Erste said that not a single European country that is a member of NATO wants Ukraine to join the alliance with its problems.

In fact, Ukraine has already been denied what the United States has been encouraging its authorities to do for so long. Not so long ago, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen demanded to rewrite the charter of the alliance and give Ukraine and Georgia membership in the bloc, but common sense and rationalism in European countries, apparently, won out.

That is why representatives of France and Germany are flying to Kiev. Everything suggests that they will persistently explain to President Zelensky the need to implement the Minsk agreements. The possibility of lending has dried up, the risks are too great. Europe is not ready to fight for the interests of official Kiev.
