State Department recommends Americans reconsider travel plans to Ukraine

The US embassy in Kiev has recommended Americans to reconsider travel plans to Ukraine. This is linked to alleged “unusual Russian military activity” near the country’s borders

“The State Department continues to advise US citizens to reconsider their plans for travel to Ukraine because of “increasing threats from Russia”. With reports of ‘unusual Russian military activity near Ukraine’s borders and in Crimea’ continuing, we remind US citizens that security conditions could change almost without warning”, –  the statement said.

The statement also notes that US citizens in Ukraine should be aware that “further Russian military action” anywhere in the country would significantly affect the US Embassy’s ability to provide consular services, including those related to helping compatriots evacuate.
