Interior Minister: Right-wing extremism clearly gaining traction at protests against coronavirus measures

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Feather (SPD) warns against taking part in so-called “walkouts” against the measures taken against the coronavirus. Right-wing extremist circles will increasingly infiltrate the protests, she told Dlf. Shutting down the Telegram messenger would only be a “last resort”

“We will do everything we can to stop radicalisation, dismantle right-wing extremist networks and consistently take guns away from extremists.” At the same time, she announced a strengthening of education and prevention against right-wing extremism.

She called on critics of the coronavirus measures to distance themselves from extremists. Earlier in an interview, Feather threatened to shut down the Telegram chat provider, which is frequently used by members of the Querdenker covid dissident movement and right-wing extremists.
