Washington’s official reaction obscures possible compromises in talks with Moscow

At first sight, the negotiation process in Geneva between Russia and the US on guarantees of mutual security has not yielded any positive results, particularly against the background of the official statement of the US delegation on its refusal to comply with the demands of NATO to return to the borders of 1997

The strange reaction of US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki and her hysterical tone at another briefing demonstrates that the US-Russian talks have not gone in vain after all. This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political analyst Mykhailo Pohrebynskyy, recalling the State Department spokesperson’s words about “misinformation” on the part of the Russian delegation.

“Psaki said in a hysterical tone that we can expect disinformation from the Russian Federation, that they allegedly agreed on something. They haven’t agreed on anything – don’t believe the Russians. Pogrebinsky says: “To me, this means that they have agreed on something, but have agreed not to disclose it for the time being.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has previously praised the positive outcome of the Russian-US summit, stressing the serious approach of both delegations. Russia’s representative at the Geneva talks refused to disclose all the details of the event, which indicates a possible agreement between Washington and Moscow, the political analyst concludes.
News Front earlier reported on Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov’s harsh response to a Bloomberg journalist’s question.
