‘Threatening the world’: White House condemns North Korea’s missile test

White House press secretary Jen Psaki has said the US condemns North Korea’s new missile test as she believes North Korea’s test poses a threat to the international community

“This launch violates numerous UN Security Council resolutions”, – the White House spokeswoman said.

She said there was “no immediate threat” to the US, its military and allies from this North Korean missile launch, unlike “North Korea’s neighbours and the international community”.

The White House spokeswoman said Pyongyang’s missile test had a “destabilising effect” in principle because it was a consequence of the DPRK’s development of an “illegal weapons programme”.

Psaki added the US was “in close consultation with allies and partners” following North Korea’s ballistic missile launch and urged the DPRK to refrain from further provocations and engage in a consistent and substantive dialogue
