NATO-Russia Council meeting begins in Brussels

Russia is represented at the first NRC meeting in two years by an interdepartmental commission of the Foreign Ministry and Defence Ministry

According to RIA Novosti, the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council has begun at the North Atlantic Alliance headquarters in Brussels.

The Russian diplomatic mission will be represented by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

The meeting is a follow-up to the talks on security guarantees between Russia and the United States, which took place in Geneva on 9-10 January. The sides are expected to discuss mutual concerns about European security, risk reduction and arms control.

The talks are planned to last about three hours. The day after the NATO-Russia Council meeting consultations will take place on the Vienna platform of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
