Reduced gas production in the Netherlands could lead to Germany’s increasing dependence on Gazprom, experts Klaus Hecking and Gerald Traufetter said
The experts said that now 90 percent of Germany’s gas needs are covered by imports. The blue fuel comes to Germany through pipelines mainly from three countries: Russia, Norway and the Netherlands.
“The Netherlands has been forced to reduce the production at its most important field for years because of seismic risks. It is possible that it will soon be shut down altogether. That would make the Netherlands even more dependent on Gazprom”, – the experts explained.
Currently the Russian company accounts for 55% of Germany’s gas imports
