The gas crisis in Germany has led to power and water cuts, reports FBA Economics Today
The joint action of the Western establishment against the launch of Nord Stream 2 has led to the threat of an energy catastrophe in Europe. Berlin-based journalist Alexander Sosnovsky spoke about the real state of affairs in Germany.
“You are living well there in Russia, but I found myself on the night of January 9 almost under air-raid alert. A third of Berlin was in complete darkness without water or electricity. They say there was allegedly an accidental shutdown of the substation that powers all of Berlin. 370,000 families in Berlin were cut off from the outside world for four hours, maybe even longer in some places”, – says the journalist.
The expert does not attribute the sudden blackout in Berlin to random circumstances. The need for Germany to put the Russian pipeline into operation as soon as possible has been repeatedly emphasised by the people close to Chancellor Olaf Scholz; however, internal party infighting prevents a pragmatic approach to the issue.
“I am not linking the situation directly to Nord Stream 2 and gas supply. But, of course, there is a certain correlation, and everyone understands this very well. And when Nuland says such things, I take them only as an attempt to verbally bind Germany to the United States. But today the German top brass is definitely against the application of sanctions to SP2, with the exception of Annalena Berbock”, – sums up Sosnowski.
Recall that the other day, January 11, during a briefing, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said Washington is working with Germany and the European Union to slow down consideration of the implementation of the pipeline “Nord Stream – 2”.
News Front earlier reported on Germany’s possible increased dependence on Russian gas.
