Zelensky again hints at new Normandy format summit

Against the background of tomorrow’s talks between Russia and NATO, Kiev began talking about the need to resolve the conflict in Donbass through dialogue.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said it was time to negotiate peace. This was reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the press service of the Ukrainian guarantor.

Zelensky today, January 11, met with advisers to the heads of France and Germany. During it, the leader of Ukraine announced his readiness for dialogue. True, we are not talking about direct negotiations with the republics of Donbass, but about the next summit in the “Normandy format”.

“We are ready for the necessary decisions during the new summit of the leaders of the four countries,” Zelensky said.

Of course, even a meeting of the Normandy Four is a step in the right direction. However, it may remain just a conversation if Kiev does not begin to fulfill the terms of the ceasefire. The Paris summit more than two years ago has already shown this.

Peace in Donbass will remain unattainable until the Ukrainian side realizes that it is necessary to cease fire on the peaceful cities of the republics. And you need to talk not with France, Germany or even Russia. It is important to build a dialogue with the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.
