The Russian side is not yet ready to comment on the results of the talks with the United States, which took place in Geneva. The Kremlin noted that they simply do not exist yet.
This point of view is shared by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, according to the political magazine PolitExpert. He noted that there are no reasons for optimism yet.
Peskov also commented on the statements of the deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Ryabkov. He noted that his positive assessment was related to the nature of the discussion, not its effectiveness.
“So far there is nothing to say about the result. There are several more rounds ahead that will allow us to get a clearer understanding, a clearer picture of where we are with the Americans”, he said.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that it is very important that the dialogue between Russia and the United States leads to a real result. Security assurance negotiations cannot be a process for process sake.
