The unrest in Kazakhstan was carried out using the same technologies that were used in 2014 on the Ukrainian Maidan
Russian President Vladimir Putin said this during the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit, RIA Novosti reported.
He noted that well-organized and well-managed militant groups were used in Kazakhstan, and information support for the pogroms was produced. Moreover, among the provocateurs were trained radicals. They had received training in terrorist camps abroad.
Putin stressed that the situation faced by Kazakhstan concerns all CSTO countries. What happened was an act of aggression, but the organization was able to suppress it quickly and prevent a catastrophe.
He also noted that the recent events would not be the last outside attempt to undermine stability in the region. Putin said that all CSTO members will unite their efforts and will not allow the situation in their states to be rocked and “colour revolutions” to take place.
Summing up, the Russian leader said the situation in Kazakhstan was beginning to normalise. There are still CSTO peacekeepers in the country. They will stay there as long as necessary.
