Kiev admits Crimea will never return to Ukraine

Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko has said Kiev should abandon plans to “return” Crimea and Donbass

“It is time for us to admit that Crimea will not return in the coming decades. Zelensky should admit for himself that it is impossible to return Crimea during his cadence, and not to mess with his head anymore”, –  Hrytsenko said on Ukraine 24 TV channel.

Crimea returned to the Russian Federation following a referendum in 2014. About 97 per cent of the peninsula’s residents voted in favour of reunification with Russia. Despite the fact that the vote was held in accordance with all necessary international norms, Ukraine refused to recognise the referendum results and continues to consider Crimea its own, but “temporarily occupied” territory.

Earlier, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko recognised the peninsula of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. The Belarusian leader also said that Belavia airline planned to fly to the peninsula
