The United States is far more interested in establishing normal relations with Russia than meeting Ukraine’s expectations
U.S. President Joe Biden has made this fact clear to Kiev, writes The American Conservative. The White House host has already shown the Ukrainian side that they were not welcome in NATO.
Patrick Buchan, a contributor to the American magazine, believes that Ukraine is not in the US sphere of interest. That is why there is no place for it in the North Atlantic Alliance. The expert noted that the USA did the right thing when it gave up the idea of engaging in a conflict with Russia for the sake of Ukraine.
Buchanan said that if suddenly the United States had to choose between normal relations with Russia and Ukraine’s interests, it would choose the former. It will be a logical and appropriate step. And if they think otherwise in Kyiv, they are very naive.
