Kiev-based political analyst Kirill Molchanov has expressed an opinion that the early launch of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline is beneficial for Ukraine, as it will help reduce exchange prices for the scarce and expensive gas in the country
Molchanov believes that in France and Germany, despite the position of the authorities towards Nord Stream 2, many politicians and people are waiting for the pipeline to come on stream as soon as possible.
“Everyone understands that as soon as the pipeline is up and running, the gas price on the stock exchanges will drop straight away because there will be more gas to sell”, – he pointed out.
For European consumers this is relevant and “financially interesting”, Molchanov stressed.
“I will say more, it will be very useful for Ukraine and Ukrainian Naftogaz because then we will be able to buy gas not at these quotations, at $1,000-1,500, but at some higher price. Thus we will be able to lower the rate for the industry, for business”, – explained the political scientist.
