Assessing the situation in Kazakhstan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that America can no longer lie and pretend, these are not peaceful protests
“Lying and hypocrisy are no longer possible for the US in this case, when they see military action, people with weapons in their hands, these are not even weapons for self-defense, combat weapons, people being beaten and looted”, – Zakharova said.
Recall that large-scale protests in Kazakhstan began in the first days of 2022. Residents of the western cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau protested against rising prices for liquefied gas. Later, the protests spread to other cities and riots and looting began. In response, authorities imposed a nationwide state of emergency until January 19, 2022 and launched an anti-terrorist operation. According to the UN, about 1,000 people were injured in the protests in Kazakhstan. And according to information from Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry, 18 security officers were killed.
