The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told about the mission of peacekeepers in Kazakhstan

The CSTO peacekeeping contingent is not involved in operational-combat measures to establish law and order in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.

“By agreement with the Kazakh side, the military personnel of the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO are not involved in the ongoing operational and combat activities of local law enforcement agencies and army units to establish law and order in the country,” RIA Novosti reports.

It is also noted that the CSTO peacekeeping contingent performs tasks to protect vital facilities, airfields, key infrastructure.
As previously reported by News Front, nine Il-76 aircrafts arrived in Kazakhstan with Russian paratroopers on board. Recall that the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also allowed the sending of military personnel to Kazakhstan through the CSTO peacekeeping mission.
