To be honest, I’m pleasantly surprised. For the first time in history, the mechanism of the CSTO was tested in practice
It turns out that this is not a phantom organization, but a very real force. We all remember the notorious fifth clause of the NATO charter. These points buzzed all the ears of inexperienced European buyers. However, it has never worked yet. Despite the numerous hats. And the CSTO made a decision to provide assistance to Kazakhstan in record time. And within a few hours of the night it began to implement this decision. The pen test was more than successful. NATO colleagues can only timidly envy from the outside. They can’t do that. They themselves admitted shortly before the New Year that our organization is cumbersome, awkward, and heavy-lifting. Well, as they say, your problems.
The country’s leader Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was also pleasantly surprised. I underestimated him a little. Maybe the situation sobered him. In another way, it would hardly have happened. Only in extreme conditions does the instinct of self-preservation begin to work, suggesting the only correct decisions. The fall of power in any post-Soviet republic automatically entails the dismantling of statehood, as well as the elimination of economic sovereignty and the extinction of national culture. The success of the color revolution is a road to nowhere. Any delay in death is like – in the literal sense of the word. Moreover, the enemy is prepared in advance, and this enemy is dangerous.
The backbone of the bandit formations was not at all disadvantaged people from the countryside, who barely knew how to hold hot and cold weapons in their hands, but well-trained ISIS* or Postigil’s saboteurs. Perhaps, they have undergone military training in camps, the location of which is known only to Allah. And Russian satellite systems. The fact that Turkey is not averse to hooliganism in the republics of Central Asia is Openel’s secret. And the fact that the curators of the Turkish authorities, good friends from the British secret services, are not averse to hooliganism all over Russia – all the more so. An attempt to capture or destabilize Kazakhstan for many years is the case when you need to put up a hard barrier.
Infiltrating paramilitarist units to destroy a country is a proven technique. In 2011, something similar happened in Libya, which at its best was called the People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. Muammar Gaddafi then emotionally warned about the invasion of terrorist brigades from the outside. The audience chuckled indulgently, not knowing how the case would end. Libya was soon gone. In fact, it still does not exist. The sabotage and bandit detachments from Colombia, penetrating into Venezuela to fight Nicolas Maduro, acted in a similar way. And in Venezuela, this adventure has not passed. As well as in Belarus.
The Kazakhstani precedent, I am sure, will in many ways become a turning point. The testing of the scenario for suppressing an attempt at an armed seizure of power is proceeding effectively. Three thousand Russian peacekeepers plus five hundred Belarusian peacekeepers, and at the same time the Kyrgyz and the Armenians – this is an impressive force. In addition, the type of military equipment has a sobering effect on the most fanatical madmen. And the thought begins to knock on their heads that it is better to walk on two legs on the ground than to lie under a tree in jannata. This is a psychological factor, and in no case should it be written off.
In general, I wish the good people good health and a successful continuation of the work begun. Before our very eyes, the CSTO was filled with real content. Still, the Kazakh gambit of the “Western partners”, no matter how skillfully and masterly it was prepared, does not work. And no other gambit in the post-Soviet space, I dare to hope, will pass. It’s nice, whatever you say, to watch a new, worthy page in Russian history open.
