Berlin forgot about Kiev’s aspiration to the European Union – Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany

European countries too quickly forgot about Ukraine’s striving for EU membership, said the Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk.

According to the diplomat, Brussels should make “bolder decisions” on the issue of granting Ukraine the prospects of membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance.

“As far as the European Union is concerned, this demand and desire from the time of the Maidan, then they spoke out not only against [ex-President Viktor] Yanukovych, but, above all, for EU membership. Unfortunately, this was forgotten too quickly in Europe and Germany”, Melnik said on the air of the WDR radio station, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, the Ukrainian diplomat said that the German authorities often ignore “legitimate interests or requests from other states, including Ukraine.”
