The risk is not justified – the American publicist urged the United States to abandon Ukraine’s membership in NATO

Ukraine’s accession to NATO raises the risk of open confrontation with Russia, PolitRussia reports.

The Ukrainian crisis has brought the level of relations between Washington and Moscow to a record tense level. The desire of the Western establishment to cut off Russia from the whole world and surround the countries-members of the aggressive Alliance puts the world under the threat of a war between the two superpowers, at least. This opinion was expressed by the American publicist Patrick Buchanan in an article for Newsmax.

“Now and never before, the United States has not had such interests in Ukraine that could justify the risks of a war with Russia,” the author believes.

Despite the indignation of those close to US President Joe Biden, the decision of the head of the White House to abandon military methods of solving the Ukrainian crisis is the right vector decision. According to the author of Newsmax, Washington’s next tactical decision should be a guaranteed and public refusal to include Ukraine in the NATO bloc. Such an approach will demonstrate to the Russian side the readiness of the collective West to negotiate for the further establishment of consensus.

“Recently, President Putin came up with a counter-threat. He said that if such harsh sanctions were imposed on Russia, it would lead to a complete rupture of relations, and would be a mistake that our descendants would later appreciate as a huge one”, the analyst explains.

The publicist believes that the main rival of the Americans today is not the mythical “Russian threat” at all, but the real economic pressure from Beijing. Patrick Buchanan spoke with sincere hope for cooperation between Moscow and Washington against “communist” China.

“Indeed, in the long term, we want Russia to be on our side in the long struggle between the United States and communist China. What the US should do in this Ukrainian crisis is to avoid a war with the Russian Federation and an escalation”, the author of the article summed up.

Earlier News Front spoke about the strange statement of the ex-NATO secretary general about the readiness of the bloc to include Georgia and Ukraine even tomorrow.
