Latvia plans to send weapons to Ukraine

Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks said that Riga intends to send Kiev not only humanitarian aid, but also weapons.

During a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia, Alexander Mishchenko, the head of the Latvian Defense Ministry agreed on the contents of the humanitarian cargo that will be sent to Kiev. Pabriks called on European countries “to do the same, since Ukraine has the right and must be able to defend itself.”

“Ukraine is largely relieving tensions from our own borders. From our region. And although Ukraine is not a NATO member, in this sense it is not an ally, but it is considered our ally in exactly what it does. In fact, they are protecting us”, he said.

Recently, Western media have repeatedly stated about the possible “invasion” of Russia into Ukrainian territory. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that such reports are “empty and unreasonable whipping up tension.”
