CSTO assistance in Kazakhstan shows the organization as an important global player

The CSTO’s assistance in stabilizing the situation in Kazakhstan will significantly raise the authority of the organization in the eyes of the world community.

This point of view in an interview with LIFE was expressed by a retired colonel, TASS military expert Viktor Litovkin. He stressed that in this situation the CSTO has shown itself to be a real player capable of influencing the situation. At the same time, the status of the organization in this situation is growing not only in the eyes of the CIS countries, but also the whole world.

“For the first time, the CSTO is responding to the call of one of its members to provide assistance in the fight against the terrorist threat. It is great that for the first time the CSTO peacekeeping forces will take part in restoring order in one of the member countries”, he said.

The expert also recalled attempts to compare the organization with NATO and accuse it of being useless. He noted that any intervention by the CSTO must be agreed by all of its members. And if we talk about the North Atlantic Alliance, then over the entire period of its existence, it once stood up for the defense of the United States, and in other cases it simply “is very worried”.

Now the task of the CSTO is to support the law in Kazakhstan and stabilize the situation there. The organization has no right to allow an increase in human casualties, destruction, a coup d’etat and the complete destruction of the country, as has already happened with Ukraine.
