nited States political expert Andrew Korybko commented on the situation in Kazakhstan especially for News Front. He is confident that the present events are an attempt by terrorists to carry out a coup d’etat.
He noted that the situation remains extremely volatile and may change at any time. Korybko explained which factors indicate that the protests in the country are another round of a hybrid war in Kazakhstan with all the signs of terrorist activity.
The protests were triggered by the planned cancellation of fuel subsidies, which significantly raised prices. The authorities complied with the initial requirements and began to investigate the mistakes that the energy companies made. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev even dismissed the government. However, apolitical protests quickly turned into anti-state riots.
Riots soon broke out with the seizure of administrative buildings, an attack on the police and the offices of TV channels.
The radicals also attacked shops and tried to storm at least one small arms shop. The expert pointed to the terrorist methods of the supposedly peaceful and democratic demonstrators.
The political scientist noted that all these events resemble the notorious methods that were invariably used during the Euromaidan and protests in Belarus.
Korybko warned that soon there could be calls for sanctions against Kazakhstan for the fact that its authorities are “anti-democratic” and “violate human rights.” This will prove that the international community will strive to escalate the situation and legitimize the attacks carried out by “peaceful demonstrators”.
