Ukrainian political analyst Oleksiy Yakubin said that Joe Biden’s administration has become less interested in Ukraine because of China, so Kiev had to look for new allies in the West
According to the political scientist, this trend will only intensify in 2022 and the US will focus even less on Ukraine.
“It seems to me that the White House administration has a concept to withdraw from as many regions as possible in order to focus on China. It turns out that the issue of Ukraine is not perceived in America as a priority that it has to solve”, – the expert told Baltnews.
According to Yakubin, Kiev is now trying to diversify its foreign policy.
“The Ukrainian authorities have become much more reliant on London and Ankara. The EU and Berlin, with which Kiev’s relations are not very good, are playing a lesser role. But we will see how the new ruling coalition in Germany behaves”, – the political scientist said.
According to him, it is crucial for Ukraine to follow how relations between the United States and Russia will develop.
“Now the second meeting between Putin and Biden is being prepared. There is a high probability that the Ukrainian issue will be raised there, and it is possible that America may support a greater activation of the set of measures spelled out in the Minsk agreements”, – the Ukrainian political scientist concluded.
