The situation in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan has stabilised after the mass protests this morning, January 5
Now the situation in the capital is no different from usual – public transport works, roads are free, the square near one of the main attractions of the capital – the monument “Baiterek” is open. However, Nur-Sultan is still without mobile internet service and blocked messengers.
Earlier, President Tokayev imposed the state of emergency in the Mangistau region and Almaty until January 19, which includes a curfew from 7 am to 11 pm, a ban on mass events and strikes, increased security for particularly important facilities. Also, entry and exit from Almaty has been restricted, and document checks and inspections of people and vehicles have been ordered.
Recall that today Tokayev has dismissed the government and said that the Cabinet of Ministers is particularly to blame for allowing the protest situation in the country.
