Protesters in Alma-Ata are marching in columns through the centre of the city, where clashes between protesters and police have begun

According to media reports, several hundred protesters were stopped by police on the approaches to the city centre. The protesters were armed with batons. The law enforcers have used special means against them.

There are reports that the protesters have beaten up several policemen and set fire to military vehicles.

It also became known that the airport of Almaty does not receive arriving planes.

Earlier it was reported that the president of Kazakhstan accepted the resignation of the government amid large-scale protests.
