The West continues to bargain with Moscow over the situation in Ukraine
Russia is facing difficulties due to the unwillingness of the North Atlantic Alliance to guarantee that the bloc will not expand eastwards. The presence of NATO troops on the borders with Russia is unacceptable, as the Russian side has repeatedly reported. Komsomolskaya Pravda columnist and political analyst Viktor Baranets has shared his views on the matter.
“There is a very long road ahead in the dunes. There are positions which Russia will not give up, and there are positions which NATO will never give up either”,- Baranets explains.
The start of the new difficult negotiations has been made, but both sides will face difficulties in making a compromise. The expert suggests that the West may make ultimatum demands on Donbass and Crimea to the Russian side, which the Kremlin will not accept for anything.
“They are rolling out counter-measures. But they’re also making a good one: ‘We could talk to you if you return Crimea to Ukraine and your troops withdraw from Donbass’, – ” the expert said.
