Germany may have electricity problems without Nord Stream 2

German Handelsblatt columnist Juergen Flauger believes that if the Nord Stream 2 stops, Germany may face power shortages due to insufficient gas supplies from Russia

In his opinion, the authorities will not be able to abandon nuclear and coal-fired power plants as planned because they face a shortage of blue fuel and Moscow is the main supplier of gas.

However, Flaugher said that gas-fired power plants are not subject to the vagaries of the weather and operate in all conditions, but without Russian gas Germany would be sitting in the dark.

He also pointed out that in case the pipeline is blocked, Russia may switch to looking for sales market in Asia, which would be highly disadvantageous for Germany.

The journalist reminds that Russia has always been a reliable supplier of gas and has always fulfilled its obligations even at the height of the Cold War. Therefore he urged the authorities of the country not to aggravate disputes about Nord Stream-2.
