Russian diplomats prepare for a meeting with NATO representatives

The Russian side has begun preparations for a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council. The diplomats are now working on the date and format of the summit.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Izvestia reports. Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko shared how the preparations for the international meeting are proceeding.

“The timing, modalities, format and composition of the delegation are being worked out,” he said.

The North Atlantic Alliance is also actively preparing for talks with Russian representatives. For example, Secretary General of the military bloc Jens Stoltenberg said that the NATO-Russia Council will be held on January 12. A source in the alliance noted that contacts with Moscow on this issue continue.

The main topic of the meeting should be projects on security guarantees that Russia handed over to Washington and NATO. They pay special attention to the demand to stop the expansion of the bloc to the east, that is, the admission of Ukraine and Georgia to it.
