NATO enlargement remains for Russia “a matter of life and death” – Peskov

The most pressing problem for Russia today is NATO’s eastward expansion. By accepting Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, the military bloc is trying to get closer to the borders of the Russian Federation.

Press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov on the air of the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” said that for the state it is “a matter of life and death”, reports Izvestia.

The United States and NATO hope to deploy their weapons and troops in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. If such a development of events is allowed, then potential adversaries will practically settle on Russia’s doorstep. It cannot be ruled out that after this, Europe and the United States will begin attempts to put pressure on the Russian Federation not only politically or economically, but also threaten with real actions. This cannot be allowed.

Previously, Peskov spoke about the position that Russian President Vladimir Putin takes during negotiations with American representatives. He noted that the head of state calculates all the moves and behaves like a grandmaster.
