President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a videoconference with members of the US Congress, during which they discussed the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
Zelensky announced that Russia is building up its military presence along the border with Ukraine. At the same time, the American side expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the government of the country. Zelensky thanked the United States for military assistance and opposed Nord Stream 2. This is stated in a statement by Senator Rob Portman, who participated in the negotiations.
“We also discussed the recent ceasefire in Donbass, mediated by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the possibility of diplomatic dialogue that could lead to an improved security situation in Ukraine. While the United States and Russia are moving towards negotiations on Ukraine and other issues, President Zelenskiy stressed that any negotiations on the future of Ukraine should include Ukraine”, Portman said.
