The Russian Federation would like to receive a faster response from the United States on security guarantees, but there are no deadlines

Russia hopes that the United States will respond as quickly as possible to the draft security assurances that the Russian side handed over to them and NATO.

This was stated in an interview with TASS by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. He stressed that he would like to receive an answer as soon as possible, but there can be no question of setting any deadlines.

“There can be no deadlines here. We are interested in this as soon as possible”, said Peskov.

Earlier, the signing of the documents on security guarantees was commented on by the US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan. He said that Washington takes time to make a decision on this issue, and the States are not ready to “just take and sign”. In addition, Sullivan said that part of the conditions concerns NATO and the decision must be made in the bloc.

However, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US is not ready to abandon the expansion of the military bloc to the east. According to her, Washington will definitely not agree to Russia’s terms on this issue. At the same time, she was clearly not aware of the diplomat’s words that the States allegedly did not influence the opinion of the Alliance.
