Scholz government cannot reach agreement over Nord Stream-2

The new German government cannot form a common point of view on the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. The coalition is already facing a split.

This was told by the German TV channel Das Erste, RIA Novosti reports. The composition of the new Cabinet turned out to be quite diverse and it is called “traffic light”. As a result, this leads to the fact that ministers cannot reach unanimity.

Nord Stream-2 is one of the most difficult issues for the government. The coalition agreement says nothing about him, which once again confirms that there is no common opinion on this matter. However, leaving this problem for later was not the best way out. The current government of the Federal Republic of Germany is trying to figure out what to do with the gas pipeline and how to leave all parties satisfied.

German experts are confident that Nord Stream 2 creates additional tension in the rather “motley” Cabinet of Ministers. For Chancellor Olaf Scholz, this is a real test of strength, and in many ways will set the pace of his rule. It is worth noting that he himself is known for his pragmatism and cannot but understand that for Germany Nord Stream-2 is a very important and profitable project. Therefore, he will have to find a way to convince his ministers of this.
