A poll by the British BBC showed that Russian citizens fully support the policies of President Vladimir Putin.
The BBC journalist recalled that in recent months, Western media regularly declare that the Russian Federation is allegedly preparing for a large-scale “attack” on the territory of Ukraine. The British correspondent decided to conduct a survey among Moscow residents and find out whether they are worried about the prospect of a conflict and further economic sanctions.
“Talk about a possible conflict also does not impress the Russians, in their opinion, the fake reports about the build-up of Russian troops are just an attempt to provoke Moscow,” the BBC noted.
Most of the survey participants did not notice the impact of Western sanctions, which were introduced after 2014, on the Russian economy. According to Muscovites, the rise in prices for certain categories of goods is due precisely to the global trend, and not to sanctions restrictions.
“Some of them are convinced that Russia will not start a war, but believe that in the event of a conflict, all Ukrainians living in Russia will have to leave, and Moscow will have to provide the rebel-controlled regions of Ukraine with money and weapons,” the British journalist said.
It is also noted that most of the respondents do not pay attention to the reports of the Western media about the “planned Russian invasion”. However, Russians are worried about the information that Ukraine has sent a significant part of its armed forces to the front line.
“We need to defend our borders. If Ukraine has pulled up its troops to the border, why can’t we do the same” one of the survey participants summed up.
