Russian Foreign Ministry accuses Poland of human rights violations in situation with migrants

Poland violates the provisions of international treaties on the protection of human rights by its brutality

This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Deputy Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights Grigory Lukyantsev in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“What we see in the pictures and in what reaches the information space are scenes of brutality, deprivation and use of special means by law enforcement and military forces of Poland against migrants. This, of course, evokes very clear associations. And judging by this footage, one can say that there really is a violation of international treaties on human rights by the same Poland”, – said Grigory Lukyanets.

It is reported that the ECHR in the period from 20 August to 3 December 2021 considered a total of 47 applications for interim measures relating to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, filed by 198 applicants. 44 requests were filed against Poland, the rest against Latvia and Lithuania.

“The statements published by the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatovic, who has expressed concern about the lack of full access to the territory of Poland for monitoring and international humanitarian organisations are also not receiving due attention”, – the diplomat added.
