Kazakhstan parliament supported the agreement on military cooperation with Russia

Military cooperation between the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan will continue to develop actively. Nur-Sultan intends to ratify an agreement between the two countries in this area.

The deputies of the lower house of the Kazakh parliament have already approved the corresponding project, the PolitExpert portal reports. After that, the document will go to the Senate for consideration.

The agreement between Russia and Kazakhstan was concluded in October 2020 for ten years. It replaced the document signed back in 1994. Its clauses were outdated and an update to the agreement was required.

The new agreements provide for the mutual work of the two powers on joint planning of the use of troops in the interests of security, countering threats to regional security, operational and combat training of military personnel, peacekeeping and other tasks in the field of defense.
