About 100 American servicemen convicted of extremist activities

The Pentagon reported that more than a hundred US military personnel have been convicted of extremist activities over the past year. This is stated in the document of the department, dedicated to the internal fight against extremism.

“The Ministry of Defense has determined that the number of military personnel against whom official action has been taken in connection with their involvement in prohibited extremist activities [was] less than 100 in the last year,” the document reads, TASS reports.

The Pentagon also drew up a list of recommendations for improving the fight against extremism, in which it is proposed to clarify the amount of funding required in key areas for analyzing internal threats, develop a comprehensive plan for training military and civilian personnel to combat harmful activity, introduce a new policy and a new definition of the very concept of “extremist activity”.

Earlier it was reported that the US military stationed at bases with tactical nuclear weapons in Europe, leaked classified data to the Web through an online application. US soldiers used them to memorize security protocols.
