The National Interest: the West should reconsider its approach to resolving the Ukrainian conflict

Western countries should consider a more diplomatic approach to restore a stable situation in Ukraine.

Since the European allies in the alliance will not be able to guarantee military protection to Kiev.

The columnist for The National Interest Ramon Marks wrote about this, RIA Novosti reports.

“NATO member states have no real military capabilities to successfully defend Ukraine. Europe has neither the strength nor the desire to follow this path”, explained the author of the text.

In the article, Marx suggested that European politicians recall the successful diplomatic projects to create neutrality in Finland and Austria during the Cold War.

In his opinion, they can be used as potential approaches to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

The author stressed that Moscow, Brussels, Washington and Kiev need to take into account the interests of each of the parties.
