An altercation between senators took place on Twitter over a vote on sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which is expected to take place next month, according to media reports
“This. Not. Democracy,” Congressman Eric Swalwell was outraged on his account in response to Republican Ted Cruz’s intention to stall the approval of President Joe Biden’s nominations for State Department posts.
Cruz had earlier tabled a draft that would impose economic restrictions because of the pipeline construction.
“Ted Cruz is in the minority. Why the hell do we have a system where one person can stall all diplomatic processes?” – Swalwell continued.
In response, Cruz switched to an informal tone.
“Hush, boy. Grown-up uncles work”, – he wrote.
Other American public and political figures have joined the controversy. During the controversy, Cruz was accused of sabotaging American interests, while other officials chose to state succinctly that the Republican “has no friends”.
