The US Senate has announced a vote on Senator Ted Cruz’s bill from Texas to impose new sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which has also sparked political battles in Germany, The Hill reports
According to the publication, the Senate will vote on Cruz’s sanctions bill, according to an agreement reached during a rare overnight session. Sixty votes would be needed to approve the sanctions.
The deal was reached after days of negotiations between Cruz and Senate Democratic Majority Leader Charles Schumer.
The initiative will also have to be approved by the House of Representatives, after which it will go to the president for his signature.
