The first patient with the Omicron strain in Iran was a resident of Tehran who visited the neighboring country
Mohammad Mehdi Gouya, head of the Centre for Infectious Disease Treatment at Iran’s Ministry of Health, said on Sunday.
“The first case of omicron in Iran was detected this morning in our compatriot, a man from Tehran, who has just returned from a neighbouring country”, – IRIB TV quoted Gouya as saying.
Later, the head of the public relations centre of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Health also noted that during an emergency meeting on Sunday, in addition to confirming the first case of omicron infection in the country, the meeting also discussed the development of new sanitary and epidemiological measures.
