Political analyst Rahr says the US is losing interest in NATO

Washington is gradually losing interest in the North Atlantic Alliance and wants to keep Europe as a trophy, German political scientist Alexander Rahr said in an interview with Ukraine.ru

“This, I think, is not only related to the conflict in Ukraine. The Americans want to keep the trophy – Europe, which is becoming more and more of an economic competitor to the US. And America, I think, is losing interest in NATO, it is creating a second ‘NATO’ now in the Pacific – to counter Chinese expansion. China is seen as a more dangerous rival and competitor than Russia”, –  the political scientist noted.

According to him, the United States has no plans to expand its influence in Europe because it intends to deploy its military presence on the Asian continent. It is noteworthy that the Kiev authorities do not intend to leave Washington alone. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Kiev planned to receive one billion dollars in aid from the US, instead of the promised 756 million dollars.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry handed over to the USA drafts of a bilateral treaty on security guarantees and an agreement on security measures between Russia and NATO countries. The document states that Moscow and Washington undertake not to use the territory of third states to prepare or carry out an armed attack on each other.
