A Washington administration official said the US had held talks with the new German authorities on the launch of Nord Stream 2
The US official recalled agreements on the pipeline reached earlier this year by the US and Germany.
“You saw the agreements between the US and Germany regarding the implications for Ukrainian and European security in light of the Nord Stream 2 project moving forward. And also agreements and understandings between us regarding support for Ukraine and the future of this pipeline, including reference to [potential] suspension in case of further aggression”, – she said.
Adding to this, the administration spokesperson stressed that “There have been good discussions with the new German government. They themselves have made some very strong statements about Nord Stream 2 and their continued support for the agreement we have with them.
It is worth recalling that the US opposes the launch of the Russian pipeline. Including through sanctions, by forgiving the companies involved in the project.
