Ukraine will increase imports of electricity from Belarus

Kiev will again increase the import of electricity from Belarus. This is stated on the website of the European Network of Electricity Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E), writes EurAsia Daily.

It is noted that the increase in imports will occur after a break of five days, when supplies were in the range of 60-100 MWh. Ukraine intends to return electricity imports to a level of 400 MW to 900 MW, depending on the time of day.

“At the daily auction of NEC Ukrenergo on December 17, 690 MW of the capacity of the Belarus-Ukraine section was acquired by the Treidenergoresurs company, another 150 MW was bought by Electro Community LLC. The results of the auction as of December 18 are similar”, ENTSO-E reported.

Recall that earlier, the Ukrainian National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) established a ban on the import of electricity from Russia and Belarus, which was extended until the end of October. However, in November, the restrictive measures were lifted against the backdrop of an acute shortage of energy resources.

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov noted that the Kiev authorities should give up not only Russian and Belarusian electricity, but also the “enemy” gas from Russia.
