Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that in 2022 Washington intends to allocate $756 million in aid to Kiev, but the Ukrainian authorities plan to receive $1 billion from the United States, Interfax writes.
“The draft US budget for 2022 provides for a total amount of assistance to Ukraine of $756 million, in particular for strengthening security – $400 million. But our goal of $1 billion in support remains unchanged, and we are confidently moving towards it”, Kuleba said during an online briefing.
According to him, through the US State Department, the Pentagon and the US Agency for International Development, Washington allocated more than $460 million to Kiev to support key reforms in Ukraine. Kuleba also recalled an additional $60 million security assistance package from the United States.
“The total amount of material and technical assistance from Washington in 2021 amounted to more than $ 130 million. This is concrete assistance to the Ukrainian army”, the minister summed up.
Former employee of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in the United States of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission Andriy Telizhenko noted that the White House is not interested in providing assistance to Kiev, as it intends to bring Ukraine closer to the negotiation process with Russia.
