Russian-Chinese tandem: Beijing supports NATO containment initiative

The head of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, agreed with the need for written guarantees about the non-expansion of NATO in Eastern Europe, writes RuBaltic.Ru.

China officially joined Russia in the military-political struggle against the NATO threat. Beijing demanded to legally guarantee the refusal of the North Atlantic Alliance from strengthening its presence on the western borders of the Russian Federation.

“Since the chairman specifically stated that he supports Russia’s demands for guarantees, then, naturally, he is well aware of this and understands the main thing – what concerns Russia has on its western borders,” a Kremlin spokesman said about the content of the Russian-Chinese talks.

The alliance of the two superpowers against the background of the advancement of the aggressive anti-Russian NATO bloc in Eastern Europe has been brewing for a long time. Washington is putting pressure on China’s economic policy, and the Ukrainian crisis has long hung on Russia. The Baltic states join the US sanctions and in every possible way contribute to public pressure on Beijing and Moscow at the official level. Lithuania succeeds in this regard more than other Baltic colleagues. Assistant to the President of Russia for Foreign Policy Yuri Ushakov commented on the video talks of the parties.

“The parties agreed to maintain contacts in this matter. And we will inform our Chinese colleagues about how negotiations and contacts on this score with American and NATO partners will develop”, Ushakov said.

As you know, China acts incomparably tougher when it comes to retaliatory measures against interference in the internal affairs of the state. Lithuanians have experienced for themselves what the economic war with Beijing means.
