Zelensky wants to use Nord Stream-2 to meet with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he wants to use the situation around Nord Stream-2 to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Thanks to Nord Stream 2, I could organize a meeting with the President of Russia, where some progress in the implementation of Minsk or other steps to end the conflict could be resolved. But this is his right, I’m not sure he will hear me”, Zelensky said at a briefing in Brussels.

Zelensky noted that Germany’s position on the gas pipeline plays an important role.

“We spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about Nord Stream-2. I think this is a security issue, I am not even talking about energy security. This is, in principle, the most serious tool for talking with Russia”, Zelensky said.

Earlier, Zelensky said that he was ready for any format of negotiations with Moscow to resolve the conflict in Donbass.
