Stoltenberg says NATO support for Ukraine is not a threat to Russia

The decision on Ukraine’s accession to NATO will be made only by Ukraine itself and by thirty members of the alliance.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this during a briefing, specifying that support for the alliance of Ukraine is not a threat to Russia.

“NATO’s support for Ukraine is not a threat to Russia. Ukraine has the right to choose its own security measures; this is a fundamental principle of European security. The decision on Ukraine’s accession to NATO will be made only by Ukraine and 30 NATO allies”

Earlier, the NATO Secretary General stated the need for a dialogue with Russia. As a reminder, on December 10, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned Russia that its “attack” on Ukraine would be costly, and called for a return to a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
