The Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine may be approved by WHO as early as the first quarter of 2022, said Hans Kluge, head of the organization’s Regional Office for Europe.
“The health sector, including vaccines, should be out of politics. We shouldn’t pay attention to the country of origin. I share the optimism of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the World Health Organization may soon include Sputnik V in the list of vaccines recommended for emergency use. In October this year, the relevant documents were signed by the RDIF. In the first quarter of next year, there will be follow-up approval from the WHO head office after receiving the dossier, which will be sent to the organization by the end of the year”, said Kluge.
Earlier it was reported that in January 2022 at the N.F. Gamalei, a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) may come. She must approve the first Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”.
Also, the Russian Sputnik V vaccine has already been modified for the omicron strain.
