Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that the sanctions against Nord Stream-2 would provoke an increase in fuel prices, but the pipeline could become an instrument of geopolitical negotiations between the EU and Russia.
“Gas prices can be dictated by geopolitical reasons, and in turn, Nord Stream-2 can become an instrument of negotiations in politics between the European Union and Russia. But if it comes under sanctions, which we hope will not happen, the impact on gas prices will be very noticeable”, he warned.
According to the Italian prime minister, even minor rumors are now influencing the price of gas. Therefore, he warned in advance that energy prices for Italian consumers would rise and “this will have to be accepted.”
Let us remind you that yesterday gas prices in Europe rose sharply due to the fact that the new gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2” is not being commissioned and the gas market in Europe remains extremely unstable.
