The Russian Foreign Ministry has assessed the verdict of the Berlin court against the Russian citizen Vadim Sokolov in the case of the murder of Georgian citizen Zelimkhan Khangoshvili. According to the department, the verdict is extremely biased and has the character of a political order.
“According to the firm conviction of the Russian side, the verdict of guilty issued by the German court on December 15, 2021 against the citizen of the Russian Federation V.A. Sokolov in the case of the murder of one of the former leaders of terrorist gangs in the North Caucasus, a citizen of Georgia Z. Khangoshvili, on August 23, 2019 in Berlin, is extremely biased and has the character of an explicit political order”, reads the commentary on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The diplomatic department of the Russian Federation insists on the innocence of the Russian, who retains the right to appeal to the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Germany against the unjust verdict against him.
Recall that the Berlin Supreme Court on Wednesday found Russian Vadim Sokolov (Krasikov) guilty of the murder of Georgian citizen Zelimkhan Khangoshvili and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The defense insists on the lack of evidence base, the decision on the appeal has not yet been made.
